Job Description Summary
A Research Specialist A is needed to design, conduct and analyze experiments investigating the physiology of nuclear hormone receptors in mouse models. The research specialist will be working closely with the Principal Investigator and other lab members on publication-generating projects. The position requires the daily handling of mice, including genotyping, careful tracking and record keeping of mouse colonies, measuring body weight, and obtaining blood samples. It will also require performing experimental procedures such as Western blotting, cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, molecular cloning, PCR, Q-PCR and ChIP. Prior experience with these techniques is desired. The research specialist will also assist with routine lab duties and other duties as assigned. Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with other people as a team are required. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills are necessary

Job Responsibilities
- Perform mouse husbandry, including genotyping, and keep detailed records of mouse colonies.
- Perform mouse body weight measurements and collecting blood samples.
- Design, troubleshoot, and carry out experiments (e.g., Western blotting, cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, molecular cloning, PCR, Q-PCR, ChIP)
- Keep a detailed lab notebook.
- Data analysis and oral and written presentation of results.
- Perform routine lab duties.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Prior experience in the following techniques is desired: Western blotting, cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, molecular cloning, PCR and Q-PCR. Can work independently, strong communication skills (verbal and written). Strong multitasking abilities and a high-level of reliability and dependability. Excellent organizational record keeping skills are required.

$44,500.00 - $50,000.00 Annual Rate Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
