Job Description Summary
The Research Specialist will perform breast cancer research studies at the interface of epidemiology, imaging data science, and implementation science. The Research specialist plays a critical role in overseeing large-scale projects that seek to understand breast cancer risk, participating in the design, conduct, analysis, and writing of breast cancer research studies.
Job Responsibilities
- Build cohorts for research studies by integrating data from the electronic health record, breast imaging, Penn Medicine Biobank, and cancer registries
- Perform data cleaning, harmonization, analysis, and interpretation for breast cancer studies
- Generate tables, figures and data visualizations. Draft abstracts, manuscripts, and progress reports.
- Assist with implementation trials and maintain proper compliance with IRB
- Perform project management tasks and coordinate with multidisciplinary research team
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology or related field and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's Degree in Public Health or Epidemiology preferred. Training in epidemiology and/or biostatistics, knowledge of breast cancer biology and epidemiology, and familiarity with electronic health record data, imaging research and implementation science strongly preferred.
