Research Technician
Job Summary
Performs, plans, and executes research studies in mice, in cell culture, and samples from humans. Develops and assesses new research techniques as well as manages resources. Ensures compliance with rules and regulations about the use of biohazardous materials.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
PERFORM STUDIES: Compliance with Patient Family-Centered Care standards through the following: Perform animal studies; research on mice, including injections, tissue biopsies, and euthanasia. Perform a variety of genetic, genomic, and cell biological experiments. Assist trainees and other technicians with analysis and project data
PARTICIPATE IN PERFORMING PROCEDURES: Order supplies and maintain equipment. Coordinate research activities and procedures of staff, graduate students, and summer students. Maintain chemical and equipment inventories. Research scientific literature regarding the current understanding of experimental paradigms.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization supplemented by two years of college level work in the physical and/or biological sciences, and considerable experience in performing diagnostic laboratory tests and examinations in the specialized area assigned to work.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Immunology, Microbiology, or a related field, or equivalent lab experience. Prior experience working in an academic or industry research lab in immunology or microbiology. Published research or experience with grant-supported research projects.
