Research Technician-Beroukhim Lab
The Beroukhim and Bandopadhayay Labs at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are jointly seeking a motivated research technician to join our efforts to find better treatments for children with brain tumors. We apply cutting-edge genomic technologies to identify drivers of childhood cancers and to determine mechanisms of resistance to current and novel treatments. Our labs are highly translational and span efforts from acquiring patient samples and generating and analyzing high-throughput datasets from those samples through functional genomics and mechanistic biology. To that end, the individual will engage in experiments that utilize molecular biology techniques such as cell culture methods, recombinant DNA and gene transfer technology, and other cell biology assays including the use of genetic perturbation approaches such as CRISPR and base-editing technology.
There will be opportunities to learn and assist in computational methods of analysis. The individual will also assist in daily laboratory operations and organization as part of a larger lab management team. Both labs have a strong track record of preparing research technicians to subsequently pursue PhDs, MDs, MD-PhDs, and industry roles.
Our groups span the Departments of Medical Oncology and Cancer Biology, as well as Pediatric Oncology, at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School. We are additionally affiliated with the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT and Boston Children’s Hospital. The position is fully on-site.
Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. We are united in our mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS, and related diseases. We strive to create an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment where we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all backgrounds, and design programs to promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.
