Position Highlights

The University of Arizona's Human Spatial Cognition Lab within the Department of Psychology invites you to apply to the role of Research Technician. In this role, you will assist with coordinating and conducting human subjects testing involving memory and navigation. This will include recruiting and testing healthy participants, patients with focal brain injury, and those with mild cognitive impairment, a precursor of dementia. The position will also involve administration such as submitting and maintaining IRBs. The Human Spatial Cognition Lab works at the forefront of research in cognitive neuroscience and seeks a qualified, highly motivated, and enthusiastic individual to join our team.

Duties & Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Assist with basic laboratory tasks including preparing samples and maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment.
• Assist higher level researchers with human subject testing.
• Support routine experiments under supervision, ensuring compliance with standardized procedures.
• Maintain logs and records of experimental data.
• Submit and maintain IRB's.
• Contact and coordinate scheduling of study subject. May also collect basic information.
• Provide routine administrative support (emails, labeling, filing, record keeping, etc.).
• Adhere to safety protocols and ethical guidelines with laboratory materials.
• Engage in continuous learning and application of basic lab techniques and safety protocols.
• Contribute to the organization and stock monitoring of laboratory supplies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

• Knowledge of basic human subject testing procedures and research support practices.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Skilled in maintaining accurate records, logs, and documentation
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive participant information responsibly.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Biology, or a related field.
• Experience working with human subjects research in studies.
• Experience maintaining research records, logs, or participant databases
• Experience in an academic, university, or healthcare research setting.
