Research Technician III, Cellular and Molecular Medicine
Position Highlights
The Ottenheijm lab in the UArizona Department of Cellular & Molecular Medicine is seeking a motivated, independent Research Technician for a joint position to support research focused on the structure and function of the cardiac and skeletal muscle proteins Titin and Nebulin and their role in disease.

Duties & Responsibilities
Perform complex experimental procedures with minimal supervision, including:
- Performing muscle mechanics and confocal microscopy.
- Managing research animals, including breeding and weaning.
- Performing toe/tail tipping, PCR genotyping.
- Analyzing data, interpreting data.
- Performing mouse dissections.
Record-keeping, Analysis, and Presentations:
- Maintain compliance records and SOPs.
- Communicates effectively all aspects of experiments with PI or other laboratory staff.
- Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments, results, and enters data in laboratory databases.
- Catalogs specimens and samples.
- Performs independent analysis and interpretation of data for investigator and prepares summary reports.
- Assists in preparation of data for publication and/or presentations at scholarly meetings.
- Assist in troubleshooting of unexpected technical obstacles.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Protocol Design and Refinements:
- With minimal supervisor guidance, refines, adapts, and makes decisions to switch experiment parameters in response to situational demands of experiments.
- Prepares experimental designs, technical protocols and techniques, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Trains and guides lab members and students in standard lab techniques and animal procedures.
