Provides expertise in support of research projects in social science, behavioral science, or humanities, including psychology, sociology, education, etc. Performs advanced testing procedures, data collection, and analysis. Prepares reports. May work with human subjects and contribute to grant proposal development. Ensures experiments are performed according to specifications. May make recommendations to changes in procedure, processes, or experimental design. May prepare and/or edit research papers, proposals and reports.

3. May be responsible for a single research project or a segment of a large research project.
4. Receives general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations.

Responsibilities: The Researcher 3 in the Social Processes Lab is responsible for working with the project directors in the implementation of human subjects research conducted with men and women for an NIH project entitled, “Acculturation, Social Context, Loneliness, and the Development of Alcohol Problems in Latinx Individuals.” Incumbent will be responsible for data collection (including assisting with the set-up, programming and testing of the self-administered psychosocial survey using Qualtrics research software, as well as data management and literature reviews. Incumbent will describe the study procedures to potential participants, evaluate eligibility, obtain informed consent as appropriate, schedule participants, and oversee the completion of computer-assisted structured interviews on physical and mental health behaviors. Additionally, Incumbent will be responsible for tracking and maintaining subjects’ contact information, scheduling and conducting follow-up assessments, and obtaining EMA data. Incumbent will assist Project Director ensuring all studies are implemented consistent with study protocols and assist in overseeing graduate students. Incumbent will attend weekly online meetings with remote leadership. Researcher 3 will also perform other project-related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Psychology, or other health services. One or two years’ experience in patient/participant contact, data collection and data analysis. Strong sensitivity to a variety of populations, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy are integral to the position.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Public Health, Psychology, or other health services. Three or more years in a psychosocial research environment. Prior experience in study coordination and/or evidence of scholarly activities. Data management experience with Qualtrics and working knowledge of Stata. Ability to speak/write in Spanish
This position is for one year with the possibility of renewal.
Experience will be considered in lieu of education. Education will be considered in lieu of experience.
MQ: Master's Degree with 3 years experience.
