RUCARES BHI Post Doctoral Associate
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Post-doctoral Associate for the Brain Health Institute within the Rutgers University Center for Autism Research, Education, and Services (RU-CARES).
The primary purpose of the Post-doctoral Associate is to assist the clinical faculty with directing and overseeing the assessment and treatment of children with autism and related disorders. They will also be involved in developing and coordinating research programs. Postdoctoral associates' responsibilities will include direct supervision of the development and implementation of assessment and treatment protocols. Postdoctoral associates implement and monitor ongoing research activities in accordance with the needs identified by the clinical faculty. Additional responsibilities include developing, writing, and implementing policies and procedures for the program. Postdoctoral associates may work with patients who engage in severe forms of aggression which could result in bodily harm.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Coordinate and direct client intake and discharge activities (e.g., conduct initial consent/paperwork with caregivers).
- Coordinate and direct assessment and treatment procedures and assist with implementation as needed.
- Review and edit initial drafts of session materials, session descriptions, and progress notes.
- Review assessment and treatment data to perform analysis of findings.
- Monitor and ensure the fidelity of assessment and treatment procedures.
- Develop and refine skill-acquisition programs (e.g., curriculum-based, developmental, social skills).
- Develop and refine behavior-reduction programs (e.g., functional communication training, noncontingent reinforcement).
- Prepare and deliver timely and accurate reports for funding agencies.
- Direct or conduct the training of caregivers (e.g., parents, school personnel).
Minimum Education and Experience:
A Doctorate in psychology or behavior analysis within 3 months of start date.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, talking, and hearing. No special vision requirements. Ability to lift to 25 pounds. Computer data input.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Clinical center environment and the possibility of working with patients who engage in severe forms of aggression which could result in bodily harm.
Special Conditions:
Preference given to individuals with experience supervising work with children with autism and related disorders in an educational, instructional, or therapeutic setting.
Salary: maximum pay is $73,870.
