Job Description Summary
The Seale Lab in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Research Specialist A to work on a project whose primary aims are employing state-of-the-art technologies to characterize human adipose tissue and skeletal muscle in type 2 diabetes. This researcher will conduct routine experiments and research activities to support project objectives. This will include tissue processing, sample preparation, cell culture assays, molecular assays and data collection/storage. The position will also involve routine lab maintenance tasks, and developing processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of deliverables. This position is contingent upon funding.
Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to a research project (processing of adipose tissue samples, derivation of cell lines, archiving samples, processing tissues for molecular and functional analyses, histology, data analysis)
- Help in the general running of the lab, including: ordering, receiving items, and maintaining lab organization
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
