Job Description:
The Summer Student Research Assistant will assist with general laboratory and field-based research activities in support of ongoing environmental health and biomedical research projects. The position is intended to provide supervised exposure to research methods, laboratory organization, environmental sample handling, field data collection, and basic research support activities.
This position has no clinical component. The student will not provide clinical care, interact with patients or clinical research participants, perform clinical procedures, access medical records, access protected health information, or participate in any activity requiring clinical training or licensure. All work will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. David Kennedy, Dr. Steven Haller, or their designees.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school student in good academic standing. Interest in science, environmental health, biology, public health, laboratory research, or related fields preferred. Prior laboratory or field research experience is not required. Training will be provided as appropriate for assigned duties.

Communication and other skills: Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work carefully, responsibly, and under supervision. Interest in science and willingness to learn new research methods. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to work respectfully with faculty, staff, students, and community partners. Ability to maintain confidentiality where applicable. Ability to maintain a good attendance record. Ability to follow all University safety requirements, laboratory rules, field safety procedures, and supervisor instructions. Ability to dress appropriately for laboratory and field-based work, including use of required personal protective equipment when assigned.
