The Senior Accountant provides support to the Assistant Controller in managing various accounting, reporting and audit support functions.
Position Title: Senior Accountant
Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, Regular Full-time
Supervisor: Assistant Controller
Position Purpose: The Senior Accountant provides support to the Assistant Controller in managing various accounting, reporting and audit support functions.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare and post journal entries for transactions ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly account reconciliations including but not limited to students’ revenue, auxiliary revenue, operating expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payables, and reserves.
- Prepare weekly and monthly revenue reporting and reconciliations.
- Prepare weekly cash and payments reconciliations.
- Assist with schedules and journal entries for grant accounting, reporting and reimbursements.
- Assist Assistant Controller with external audits to gather documentation, respond to requests, and verify accuracy of supporting records.
- Work on projects and respond to requests from other Finance and non-Finance groups on campus.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned.
Job requirements:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Comprehensive understanding of general ledger accounting
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in public or private accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- CPA a plus.
- Workday a plus
Compensation:
The annual salary range for this position is $65,000-$70,000.
