MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology

MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK

Due to the retirement of our long-serving Divisional Administrator, we are recruiting a senior team member to lead the administration and business support in the Cell Biology Division. The Divisional Administrator supports our Heads of Division in their execution of the leadership and management of the Division. This is a people-facing role which requires the ability to respond flexibly and sensitively to changing situations.

You will manage all aspects of administration and business support for over 120 researchers within the Division, balancing corporate requirements and the need for efficiency and effectiveness. You will have primary responsibility for the HR and financial management of the Division, and for decision-making associated with specific aspects of these and other functions. You will also work collaboratively with other teams across the Institute to achieve process improvement and efficient processes.

Educated to degree level (or with equivalent relevant experience), you will have significant experience of working in complex and diverse administrative roles, including experience of HR and financial responsibilities. You will be highly organised, have sound problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deal with staff at all levels and work collaboratively.

The official title internally for this role is Divisional Administrator and this will be reflected in the contract of employment for the successful candidate.

The LMB has a collaborative working culture and state-of-the-art building based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. We have on-site parking, cycle enclosures and excellent public transport links to the site. We have a staff restaurant with roof terrace and access to a Campus nursery and sports and social facilities. You will be eligible to join our defined benefit pension scheme, a holiday entitlement of 40.5 days (including bank holidays and privilege days) and a generous employee discount scheme. We are also committed to providing training and development opportunities including support towards role-related qualifications. Further information about the benefits available can be found at http://www.discover.ukri.org/benefits-of-working-at-ukri.
