Your next career opportunity

As a Clinical Advisor (HIT3) at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Viral Hepatitis, you'll spearhead efforts to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B, HIV, and syphilis in Pacific and Asian countries. You will provide critical clinical expertise, develop guidelines, and train health workers, directly impacting healthcare systems and improving lives. This role offers the chance to travel, collaborate with diverse teams, and contribute to groundbreaking initiatives funded by DFAT.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading Research and Training Initiatives: Plan and implement hepatitis B research projects, develop training programs, and offer ongoing advice to regional counterparts.
• Developing and Localising Guidelines: Create and adapt guidelines based on WHO best practices for the elimination of vertical transmission.
• Training and Empowering Health Workers: Conduct training sessions and build the capacity of local colleagues to ensure sustainable program implementation.
• Engaging and Mentoring: Collaborate with health workers, community members, and emerging leaders to foster a comprehensive healthcare response.

You are a highly organised and proactive professional with expertise in infectious diseases, ready to collaborate internationally and drive healthcare improvements in the Indo-Pacific region.

You may also:

• Degree in medicine or nursing
• Possess strong communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
• Have experience in planning and implementing research and training programs.
• Be adept at developing guidelines and policies based on international best practices.
• Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Be willing to travel internationally up to 30 days per year (one week at a time)

Your new team – The Doherty Institute

The Doherty Institute is a world-class institute combining research, teaching, public health and reference laboratory services, diagnostic services and clinical care into infectious diseases and immunity. It was officially opened in September 2014 and is a joint venture between the University of Melbourne and Melbourne Health. The Doherty Institute has a major focus on diseases that pose serious public and global health threats such as influenza, tuberculosis, HIV, viral hepatitis, Ebola and drug resistant bacteria.
