The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

As a Senior Developer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and enhancing AUT’s AI and digital experience platforms. You will work across a range of initiatives spanning application development, integrations, cloud services, and AI-enabled solutions, with a strong focus on delivering scalable, user-centred outcomes.

This role is ideal for someone who combines solid technical depth with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset. You will be confident working across the full development lifecycle, from architecture and prototyping through to production delivery, support, and continuous improvement. You will also provide technical leadership within the team, helping guide good development practices, mentoring less experienced developers, and contributing to a high-performing engineering environment.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
  • At least 7 years’ professional experience in software development
  • Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining modern software solutions in a professional environment
  • Experience developing APIs and system integrations for reliable data exchange between platforms
  • Strong working knowledge of contemporary development approaches including version control, testing, peer review, agile delivery, and CI/CD
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar
  • Experience with modern application stacks and development frameworks across frontend, backend, and integration layers
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, maintainability, and supportability
  • Awareness of cybersecurity good practice and common application security risks
  • Interest in AI, automation, and emerging developer tooling, including AI-assisted development and rapid prototyping

Salary Ranges | Ngā Utu: $110,000 - $131,000, commensurate with the skills and experience of the preferred candidate.
