Senior Executive, Communications (1-year contract)
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Executive, Communications to support high-impact internal and external communications that advance the School’s strategic priorities. You will contribute to strengthening NUS Medicine’s positioning as a leading medical school for Asia through strategic storytelling, editorial/publication work, digital and social media content, and media relations support.
This role is ideal for a communications professional who is a strong writer, highly organised, and confident working with multiple stakeholders and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
1) Publications & Editorial Management (Primary focus)
- Coordinate editorial planning, development, production and dissemination of the School’s flagship Yearbook.
- Coordinate development, production and dissemination of MediCine, a 58-page quarterly magazine (Feb/May/Aug/Nov).
- Coordinate translation and publication of the Chinese and Spanish editions of MediCine.
- Coordinate interviews and photo shoots with faculty and external stakeholders.
- Maintain and update mailing lists/databases for publications.
- Support content management for the MediCine microsite and digital edition.
2) Digital & Social Media
- Work with the social media agency and internal stakeholders to develop digital content (e.g., videos, banners, EDMs, social posts, brochures, podcasts).
- Support promotion of major School events and initiatives (e.g., Open House, Commencement, White Coat Ceremony, outreach programmes).
- Manage and maintain official social platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, TikTok, WeChat, Telegram) in line with branding guidelines.
- Develop and update content for the School’s corporate website.
- Create EDMs for internal announcements.
3) Media Relations Support
- Support media relations initiatives to raise the School’s profile and thought leadership.
- Assist with publicity needs for departments and research centres.
- Develop communications materials (key messages, press releases, talking points, fact sheets, website articles).
- Support media briefings, interview coordination and filming requests.
- Monitor and compile press coverage.
4) Other Corporate Communications / Admin Support
- Support ad-hoc communications needs, and procurement/administrative coordination where required.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, English Literature, Arts, Journalism, Visual Communications, Marketing and/or related fields.
- Experience: 1–3 years of corporate communications experience, with exposure to functions such as publications, digital communications, internal communications and/or media relations.
- Core competencies:
- Strong writing, editing and presentation skills
- Strong stakeholder management and project management abilities
- Good eye for aesthetics and experience working across visual formats (EDMs, web, photo, video, print)
- Team-oriented, yet able to work independently
- Strategic, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable coordinating with vendors/creative agencies and internal subject-matter experts
- Experience in journalism, corporate communications and/or marketing.
