Senior Lecturer, Academic Development (Level C)

Full-time, fixed-term position until 31 December 2026

Salary Range: $140,127 – $161,145 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

Multiple roles may be available at varied levels

The Senior Lecturer, Academic Development (Level C) role provides leadership to enhance learning and teaching across the University. Based in Teaching and Learning Innovation (TLI), the successful candidate will work with academic and professional staff across TLI, Colleges, AU Online and Pathways to co-create curriculum aligned with the strategic directions of Adelaide University. The role focuses on advancing curriculum design, digital and blended learning, and supporting inclusive, high-quality educational experiences. You will provide strategic advice, contribute to academic development initiatives, and support the continuous improvement of programs, including the development of online and on-campus offerings.

In this role, you will provide leadership in learning and teaching, working collaboratively with academic and professional staff to enhance curriculum, improve student outcomes, and embed innovative, inclusive and technology-enabled educational practices across the University. You will provide academic expertise and a scholarly focus on a range of learning and teaching issues across multiple disciplinary areas. You will also provide leadership through supporting regular academic development opportunities within TLI and across the broader University. Your work will directly influence the quality and impact of teaching and learning at scale.

The team

Reporting to the Associate Director: Curriculum, this role sits within Teaching and Learning Innovation (TLI) in the DVC-Academic portfolio. You will work closely with Colleges, AU Online and Pathways to support strategic learning and teaching priorities and drive continuous improvement in educational practice. Qualifications

  • A doctoral qualification and demonstrated extensive experience related to teaching and learning in higher education.

Experience

  • Demonstrated high level expertise in the design and development of curriculum that engages diverse cohorts of learners for on-campus, blended and online learning contexts.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with a team orientation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and learning and teaching in higher education.
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with learning theories and practices in higher education and demonstrated scholarship, with a particular emphasis on the use of technologies to support student learning.
  • Demonstrated high level ability to work strategically with a wide variety of College-based staff and discipline areas within University structures, policies and processes to support Adelaide University priorities and strategies.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills appropriate to working effectively in a range of contexts and settings with students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Extensive experience initiating, leading and managing multiple concurrent teaching and learning projects.
  • Demonstrated capacity to evaluate the effectiveness of learning and teaching in higher education.
  • Demonstrated research outcomes reflecting a growing national profile in an area of education specialisation such as academic and professional literacies; learning sciences; assessment; technology enhanced learning; evaluation methodologies; learning analytics or work integrated learning and actively contribute to TLI’s research in these areas.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, equity and social justice within a tertiary education context.

Desirable:

  • Qualifications and significant experience in Higher Education, specifically Curriculum and Education Studies, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing project management methodologies and documentation processes in the education context.
