James Cook University (JCU) is seeking a dedicated and experienced veterinary professional to join our team as a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Small Animal Surgery. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of veterinary education and contribute to high-quality clinical service delivery within our state-of-the-art Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Townsville.
What you’ll do:
In this pivotal role, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of veterinary education and contribute to cutting-edge research in small animal surgery. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and mentoring to our veterinary students, ensuring they receive a comprehensive and practical education in surgical techniques and procedures.
- Deliver high-quality teaching in small animal surgery to undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary students.
- Lead and contribute to clinical service in the Small Animal Surgery Unit, including supervision of final-year students, interns, and residents.
- Foster strong engagement with industry partners and professional bodies.
- Contribute to leadership, curriculum development, and the ongoing improvement of the veterinary program.
About you:
- Veterinary degree registrable in Queensland (or eligible for registration).
- A postgraduate qualification in small animal surgery (e.g., MANZCVS, FANZCVS, Dipl. ECVS or ACVS) or equivalent specialist training.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching and supervision in a veterinary hospital
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-focused approach.
