• Public finance and auditing
• Organisation and management
• Legal perspectives on public administration

It also contributes to teacher education programmes and conducts research on public administration and its societal context.

Subject Area

Public Administration is a multidisciplinary field focusing on:

Duties

The position focuses on teaching and research in organisation and management.

Teaching Responsibilities:

Teaching primarily takes place in:

• Bachelor’s courses (e.g., organisation of public administration, organisational conditions)
• Master’s courses (e.g., organisation and environment, leadership in public organisations)
• Possible doctoral and commissioned education

Teaching formats include:

• Lectures
• Seminars
• Workshops
• Supervision

Additional duties:

• Course coordination
• Assessment and examination
• Administrative tasks

Teaching is mainly in Swedish, but some English teaching may occur.

Research Responsibilities:

• Conduct independent research in public administration
• Strengthen the research environment in organisation and management
• Lead research projects and applications
• Participate in international and national conferences
• Publish high-quality academic work

Other Responsibilities:

• Professional development

• Active participation in departmental development in Gothenburg

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Hold a PhD in Public Administration or related field (e.g., business administration, sociology, anthropology, ethnology)
• Demonstrate teaching competence
• Have very good Swedish (spoken and written) — mandatory requirement

Eligibility follows Swedish Higher Education Ordinance and university regulations.

Assessment Criteria

Scientific Competence:

• Publications in public administration or related fields
• Peer-reviewed journal articles and monographs (highest value)
• International and national research collaboration
• Ability to secure research funding
• Strong emphasis on organisation and management research

Teaching Competence:

• Experience in teaching at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels
• Course coordination and supervision experience
• Development of teaching and educational quality
• Teaching materials production (meritorious)

Collaboration with Society:

• Work with public sector organisations
• Commissioned education experience
• Communication of research
• Networks with public institutions

Leadership & Personal Qualities:

• Ability to lead and develop activities
• Responsibility and independence
• Collaboration and communication skills
• Contribution to departmental academic environment

Pedagogical Training:

• Required higher education teaching qualification
  (or completion within 1 year if not already fulfilled)
