Do you enjoy working with young people, are you curious and keen to share your knowledge? As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a key role in the education of students. Together with a dedicated team of teaching staff, you will make a significant contribution to the students’ success. In addition to providing a sound academic education, we place particular emphasis on motivating our students. We want to support young people in developing a curious and critical mindset, thereby laying a solid foundation for future professional challenges.

Your workplace:

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in the area of team sports and sport-related physical activitieswithin the Department of Sport and Exercise Science, as well as in the subject of Physical Education and Sport. This includes delivering practical instruction in team sports (football, basketball, handball, racket sports, etc.). In the subject of Physical Education and Sport, teaching content includes aspects of movement science (development of basic motor skills and general playing ability), movement experiences in team sports, racket sports and trend sports, as well as games from other cultures.

The working hours amount to 40 hours per week and include a teaching commitment of an average of 24 contact hours per week.

Your future tasks:

  • As a Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in teaching the subject of Physical Education and Sport, as well as in the Department of Sport and Physical Education at Bachelor’s and Master’s level.
  • Your core responsibilities include delivering practical teaching sessions in the field of sports games and game-related movement activities.
  • You will play a supporting role in your department within the context of the entrance examination.
  • We expect the academic (further) development of teaching and learning content in modern formats
  • You are expected to keep abreast of the current state of the art in your field and to undertake further didactic training during periods when you are not teaching.
  • In addition, the role involves undertaking administrative tasks, particularly in the administration and organisation of teaching

What we expect:

We are looking for people who see university teaching as an interesting and challenging field. Requirements for application are:

  • A completed Master’s or Diploma degree in Sports and Exercise Science or a teaching qualification in Physical Education
  • Specialist training in team sports (university education, coaching qualifications or equivalent evidence)
  • Several years’ experience of independent teaching at a post-secondary educational institution
  • Previous teaching experience at secondary levels I and II would be an advantage
  • Enthusiasm for imparting knowledge and for university teaching
  • Interest in the use of digital teaching formats
  • Very good command of English
