Senior Manager (Investigations), Campus Emergency & Security
Job Description
The candidate will lead a team responsible for investigating security incidents and student misconduct reported to the University. Working alongside experienced investigators, security professionals, corporate partners, and government agencies, the candidate will be expected to:
- Lead and personally conduct thorough investigations into security incidents and student misconduct cases, in accordance with the University's policies, statutes, and regulations;
- Coordinate with Care Units to ensure appropriate support is extended to students throughout the investigation process;
- Review and analyse evidence and documents to develop a holistic assessment of each case, consolidating findings into comprehensive investigation reports with actionable recommendations;
- Oversee case management, ensuring investigation files and documentation are accurately maintained and up to date, and that the team's KPIs are consistently met;
- Prepare management reports on investigation outcomes, statistics, and emerging trends to support informed decision-making;
- Serve as the primary liaison between the University and relevant government agencies on investigation-related matters;
- Provide investigative advisory support to management, faculties, and departments as needed; and
- Undertake ad hoc assignments as directed.
Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant discipline with at least 10 years of investigative experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory capacity;
- Prior experience in an investigative role within government agencies or law enforcement;
- Proficient knowledge of evidence handling, chain-of-custody protocols, and investigation procedures;
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, well-structured investigation reports and management briefs;
- Effective interviewing skills, with experience conducting structured interviews across diverse stakeholder groups;
- Resourceful and solutions-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
- Possession of a valid driving or riding licence is an advantage; and
- Must be prepared to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays when operational needs require.
