Senior Manager, Major Gifts (NUS Development Office)

About Us

The Development Office (DVO) is the University-wide office responsible for driving philanthropic support for the University’s mission. We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Major Gifts Officer to play a key role in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors, including high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, Major Gifts, the successful candidate will support efforts to secure significant philanthropic support for the University. The role also involves working closely with NUS leadership, faculty, colleagues, and volunteers to cultivate and strengthen donor relationships in support of the University’s strategic priorities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong relationship builder who is passionate about creating meaningful partnerships, driven by impact, and motivated to contribute to the University’s fundraising mission.

About the Role

As a Major Gifts Officer, you will manage a portfolio of current and prospective major gift donors and drive donor engagement across the full gift cycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of current and prospective major gift donors, and overseeing all phases of the gift cycle, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Developing short- and long-term strategies to deepen meaningful engagement and advance gift discussions between prospective donors and NUS senior leadership and faculty members.
  • Preparing compelling fundraising proposals, briefing notes, and related materials to support donor engagement efforts.
  • Meeting or exceeding mutually agreed fundraising goals and performance metrics.
  • Collaborating closely with faculty colleagues to develop and maintain a coordinated approach to university-wide fundraising and donor stewardship.
  • Serving as a liaison to identify strategic funding opportunities and facilitate meaningful donor engagement and stewardship.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely documentation of donor interactions and activities in the University’s donor management system.

About You

We are looking for someone who is strategic, relationship-driven, and highly motivated, with the ability to engage a diverse range of donors and stakeholders with professionalism and confidence.

You should have:

  • A proven track record in managing and closing complex sales or partnership opportunities with individuals and/or organisations.
  • The ability to manage a diverse portfolio of individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Strong interpersonal, active listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative, self-motivated, and adaptable approach, with strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • A strong customer service orientation and the ability to build trust with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A high level of professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity in handling confidential donor and prospect information.
  • Experience in higher education or philanthropy will be an advantage.
  • A recognised university degree. Candidates with a diploma and relevant experience will also be considered.
