Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in Cancer Immunology and Antigen Discovery
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in Cancer Immunology and Antigen Discovery to support research into antigen presentation and immune recognition in cancer contributing to the development of next-generation cancer immunotherapies. The project focuses on the application of proteogenomic approaches to investigate how tumour specific antigens are generated and shaped by the molecular architecture of the antigen processing and editing machinery.
You will be responsible for designing and delivering hypothesis-driven research to investigate tumour antigen processing and HLA presentation, with focus on mechanisms of immune recognition in cancer. You will also apply integrated proteogenomic approaches, combining mass spectrometry-based immunopeptidomics data with genomic datasets to enable the identification and prioritisation of tumour-specific antigens. Further to this, you will investigate HLA-mediated antigen presentation pathways in different cellular contexts, applying and adapting sample preparation workflows for proteomic and immunopeptidomic analyses across diverse biological matrices.
It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Biochemistry or a closely related discipline. You must demonstrate your ability to design, execute and lead hypothesis-driven research, including the development of research questions and interpretation of complex multi-dimensional data. You must also have extensive hands-on experience on LC-MS/MS-based proteomics workflows, including applications to antigen presentation, encompassing sample preparation, HLA peptide enrichment, and data analysis of complex datasets.
Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will need to upload a supporting statement and CV. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. Please restrict your documentation to your CV and supporting statement only. Any other documents will be requested at a later date. This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 24 months and is funded by CRUK.
Only applications received before 12 midday on Friday, 8 May 2026 will be considered. Please quote 186235 on all correspondence.
