Skills/Qualifications
Professional experience in behavioural and functional assessment in rats, accredited by a certificate detailing the services and duties performed at the organisation or group where the work was carried out. Practical experience in the following areas will be valued:
- Endurance tests: implementation and standardisation of treadmill exercise protocols in rats with and without spinal cord injury.
- Sensory-motor behaviour: conducting in vivo motor and sensory tests, including the BBB ambulation scale, grip strength and allodynia tests using automated Von Frey filaments.
- Handling in accordance with the 3Rs principles: habituation and positive, non-invasive handling of animals to minimise stress.
Professional experience in rat spinal cord injury models, evidenced by a certificate detailing the duties and responsibilities from the organisation or group where the work was carried out. The following will be specifically assessed:
- Experimental surgery: Demonstrated practical experience in rodent microsurgery, specifically in rat spinal cord injury models.
- Management of the critical post-operative period: pain management, manual bladder emptying and monitoring of the animal’s well-being.
Professional experience in histology and image analysis of nervous tissue, accredited by a certificate detailing the duties and responsibilities carried out at the organisation or group where the work was performed.
- Tissue processing: Proficiency in general protocols for fixation, cryoprotection and the preparation of high-quality sections of nervous tissue (spinal cord).
- Immunostaining and microscopy: Skills in conventional and multiplexed immunofluorescence staining and in image acquisition (epifluorescence and confocal microscopy), as well as in the digital quantification of images using software such as ImageJ.
Formal training in biostatistics and bioinformatics (R, Python, statistics). Accredited by a certificate or qualification.
Specific Requirements
Complementary qualification: Valid official certification for the design and conduct of procedures involving laboratory animals, in accordance with the standards set out in Directive EU 2010/63/EU and Royal Decree 53/2013. Accredited by means of a certificate

Selection process
The selection process will consist of two phases:
1st Phase: Evaluation of merits (6 points): in this phase, an evaluation of the merits and requirements established in the call for applications will be carried out by the Selection Board.
2nd Phase: Personal interview (4 points): Candidates who have obtained at least 4 points in the 1st Phase will be called for a personal interview with the Selection Board, which may be held in person or online. This interview will deal with the requirements established in the call for applications.
The Evaluation Panel will be composed of:
- Chair: lead researcher /Service Manager
- Member: Member of the reception group
- Secretary: Human Resources of the Foundation
