Location: College Lane.

The University of Hertfordshire’s School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences are seeking a highly organised and motivated Senior Research Assistant to support the new Research Inclusion workstream in delivering inclusive research. The post is funded by a five-year applied health research grant from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). We are seeking to appoint a proactive, ambitious Senior Research Assistant to support the Research Inclusion workstream lead.

Main duties and responsibilities

Supporting the Research Inclusion Lead to deliver workstream objectives and NIHR reporting. The role will involve supporting and organising meetings, community of practice and regional and national events. The role will involve facilitating support and training for ARC workforce and public partners on research inclusion. Working with, and supporting, public partners in ARC activities. The Research Inclusion workstream will support Health Inequality Assessments. You will be expected to attend research meetings, help the team organise events, and assist with writing reports, blogs and papers. You will also support the development of the evidence base and research into Research Inclusion. You will also organise events, present findings, work with members of the public, and engage with the wider ARC infrastructure. You will be expected to establish and maintain relationships with community organisations and research partners.

Skills and experience required

You will have knowledge of appropriate databases for the discipline and ability to conduct literature searches in the discipline using appropriate electronic resources, supported by good IT Skills including MS Office. You will display excellent interpersonal and presentation skills in spoken and written English. The ability to work to tight deadlines, dealing with conflicting priorities and working accurately under pressure is essential for this role.

You will have experience and practice of Research Inclusion (Patient and Public Involvement) within health and care research, and experience of working in collaboration with external third-sector, charities, NHS and social care organisations. Experience co-facilitating workshops and training with Public Partners is essential.

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification) or higher qualification in a relevant discipline.
