Senior Research Associate- Neurology
The Department of Neurology seeks a Researcher to conduct complex scientific investigations in a foundational biological/health science laboratory. Serving as a specialist or technical expert in epigenomic and transcriptomic mechanisms that contribute to neurodegeneration in Parkinsons and Alzheimers diseases, the incumbent collaborates closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to design, manage, and implement research projects. Responsibilities include planning, designing, and conducting advanced experiments; executing molecular, biochemical, or other specialized procedures; and providing technical expertise in mouse and cellular models of neurodegeneration, circadian rhythms, and multi-omics analyses. The Researcher extracts, analyzes, and evaluates experimental data; develops and implements new or revised methodologies; and establishes criteria, controls, and standards to achieve project goals. The role contributes to scholarly output by preparing manuscripts, abstracts, and reports for publication in scientific journals, and presenting findings at national and international conferences and workshops. The Researcher actively supports grant development by drafting, editing, and critiquing proposals; identifying potential funding sources; and cultivating relationships with current and prospective sponsors. Additional responsibilities include overseeing laboratory operations, ensuring proper maintenance of equipment, negotiating and managing service contracts, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols. The incumbent monitors compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, trains research staff in new methodologies, and serves as a consultant to other investigators in their area of expertise.
