Boston University is seeking customer service-oriented individuals to join the Department of Public Safety, Residence Safety team. In this role, you will interact regularly with students, staff, and guests, serving as a key presence in maintaining a safe and welcoming residential environment by facilitating access control into the dorms on the Charles River Campus. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a full-time position at the University and access a comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor access of residents and guests to large residential buildings on campus, enforcing guest and University policies
- Verify guest passes and confiscate misused, damaged, or altered identification.
- Respond to emergencies (fire, medical, security) by notifying appropriate authorities.
- Communicate incidents via phone or radio and complete detailed Incident and Fire Alarm Reports.
- Serve as a front-line representative of the University, providing information and assistance.
- Monitor video systems and report suspicious activity or equipment issues.
- Attend required training sessions and regularly review operational procedures.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication, writing, and customer service skills
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and professional in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- One to three years of experience in a security role or in a public facing/customer service position.
