Remuneration: Level 8 from $127,351 plus leave loading & 17% super

The Capability Systems Centre (CSC) is looking to employ a Senior Software Developer (Team Leader), to work on applied research projects focused on developing dynamic decision analytics, including simulation, optimisation, and visualisation. The successful candidate will work closely with the systems modelling team and foster productive collaborations with University and Defence stakeholders.

Why Your Role Matters:This position is responsible for leading the design, development and implementation of modelling, simulation, optimisation and visualisation tools to support funded project outcomes. You will provide operational technical oversight of software development activities, supervises software developers within the team, and ensures delivery of robust, scalable and maintainable technical solutions aligned with project requirements. Reporting to Professor Sondoss El Sawah you will be responsible for leading and supervising software developers and associated project staff.

Who You Are (skills and experience):

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, with 7+ years’ subsequent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the design and architecture of complex, scalable software systems.
  • Advanced programming expertise in Java and experience integrating multi-language environments and modern development frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising software development teams
  • Strong experience in software engineering best practices, including version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks and quality assurance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing technical priorities and deliver outcomes with a high level of autonomy and professional judgement.
  • Experience engaging with industry, government or research stakeholders to scope and deliver technical solutions.

Eligibility:

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. All candidates must hold Australian Citizenship to be considered for this position. Baseline security clearance is highly desirable for this role. You must be willing to apply for and maintain security clearance.
