Determine if there is any insurance pre-authorization needed,
and mail information packets to patients as necessary.
Preauthorize procedures and surgeries. Obtain referrals and
authorizations as necessary for all clinic patient encounters,
procedures, and surgeries. This will require interactions with
insurance companies and a working knowledge of various types of
insurance along with CPT and Dx coding.
Coordinate the care of patients with other multidisciplinary
teams from the time the patient decides to have surgery up to the
day of surgery.
Work with physicians and their team to ensure their patients
are ready for surgery.
Submit authorization revisions as needed within designated
timeframes.
Train surgery schedulers/preauthorization specialists.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years of patient registration and insurance
processes.
- One year of healthcare administration/insurance authorization
experience.
Substitution: A combination of education and related
technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted
for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of
hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College graduate.
- Three or more (3+) years of patient/client-facing
experience.
- Medical office experience.
- EPIC experience.
- MS Office experience.
- Bilingual, Spanish-speaking.
- Understanding of HIPAA practices and patient
confidentiality.
