Service Delivery Manager - Upper North Island

Transpower is shaping New Zealand’s energy future and supporting the transition to a decarbonised economy. Our transmission network spans over 12,000 km of lines, 25,000 towers, and 170 substations – assets valued at more than $5 billion that support communities and businesses across the country.

About the team

Our Grid Delivery division ensures the safe and reliable operation of the transmission network. We deliver maintenance and capital projects in partnership with service providers, investing around $650M in capital and $150M in maintenance annually, with significant growth ahead.

The opportunity

Based in Auckland, this role has responsibility for transmission line assets across the Auckland and Northland regions, working closely with our service provider Omexom.

As a Service Delivery Manager, you’ll take ownership of site operations within your Regional Service Contract area, ensuring work programmes are delivered safely, efficiently, and to agreed standards. You’ll collaborate closely with peer Service Delivery Managers, Service Performance Managers, and external service providers to maintain network reliability and respond to events as they arise.

You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to major and meaningful work on the grid, including upcoming projects such as the Glorit Solar Farm connection, supporting New Zealand’s renewable energy transition.

This is a field-focused role where your decisions directly impact the safety, performance, and resilience of the transmission network.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll coordinate with service providers, schedulers, and project managers to ensure work is delivered on time and meets the required standards. You’ll build strong, productive relationships that promote best practice, resolve issues quickly, and support continuous improvement.

You’ll also contribute operational input and insight to a range of initiatives, including:

Business case development for grid investments

Asset upgrades, replacements, and enhancements

Collaboration on resilience projects and major infrastructure upgrades

About you

You’re practical, collaborative, and solutions-focused, with strong communication and influencing skills. You’re comfortable working both on site and in the office, and flexible to travel within the Upper North Island. A full, clean driver’s licence is essential.

You take pride in delivering high-quality outcomes and enjoy supporting others to grow their skills and capability.

Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:

Experience overseeing service delivery through contracts and performance metrics, with an understanding of maintenance strategies that prioritise reliability and safety

A solid understanding of transmission assets and service delivery, with transmission lines experience preferred

Strong verbal and written communication skills, and familiarity with electronic maintenance management systems (e.g. Maximo or similar management platforms)

Confidence in providing assurance across safety, quality, and operational performance

A relevant qualification, or equivalent experience in a similar environment

A practical, hands-on approach and a commitment to continuous improvement
