SHP Adjunct Instructor - MAT program
Position Description
The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in the School of Health Professions at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center invites applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty in the Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program to begin May 2026. The appointment's primary role is teaching and assessing clinical skills. The selected candidate will develop appropriate course content, instruct Master of Athletic Training students, grade assignments, and coordinate laboratory sessions in Lubbock, Texas.
The adjunct faculty member may work collaboratively with faculty from the Master of Athletic Training (MAT), Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD), Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTDP), Doctor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences (ScD RS), and Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Science (PhD) within the department as well as with other departments within the School and University.
The successful candidate will join one of the oldest entry-level masters in athletic training programs of its kind and will contribute to the university's mission through teaching, research, and service, with some variation by academic unit.
Major/Essential Functions
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in the Master of Athletic Training Program and potentially in other programs in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. This will include responsibilities in Lubbock, Texas, to provide face-to-face instruction and course coordination.
- Demonstrate a commitment to building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment Collaborate with program faculty and staff to continuously enhance the quality and effectiveness of the program curriculum and educational experience.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree Athletic Training or similar.
- Board of Certification Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing.
- Texas Licensed Athletic Trainer in good standing.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 10 years of clinical practice experience.
- Previous teaching experience in an athletic training program.
- Availability of scheduled teaching assignment.
