Contingent III, 75%-Time, Grade 002
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) Asia seeks a Southern Sites' Site Support Specialist, serving primarily Camp Kinser, Futenma, and Camp Courtney.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Provide on-site presence to support classes offered by all universities on base
- Open and secure building entrances and classrooms
- Responsible for setting-up UMGC live streaming (LS) equipment prior to LS classes, serving as first-level trouble shooting technical support and coordination with Technical Support to immediately respond to LS issues, and securing LS equipment at the end of class meetings
- Ensure that building rules are abided by UMGC students and that all UMGC labs/rooms are clean and presentable
- Ensure that quality services are provided to all current and prospective students including being responsive to students and student issues, assisting with basic questions, and directing them to appropriate resources by maintaining general knowledge of UMGC programs to include catalog, class/term dates, and other basic information that students may ask about during breaks in class
- Maintain inventory and operability of live streaming equipment to ensure that assets are clean, updated, and ready for use in class, notifying Logistics Supervisors and/or managers when issues arise
- Provide staff and faculty support after hours/on weekends to include assisting with accessing computers, printing LS materials for remote sites and rosters, classroom and testing setup/proctoring, as permitted per testing vendor policies, or proctoring make-up exams for face-to-face courses, etc.
- Assist Program Coordinators to update, distribute, and maintain materials in and around offices and classrooms including posters, flyers, schedules, room assignment postings, banners, etc.
- Report any issues or incidents to management and request resources as appropriate to accomplish assigned duties
- Other job-related duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma
- Available for a flexible work schedule including early mornings, days, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Basic office management, computer, and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills
- Successful applicants must be able to pass background check and meet requirements for individual logistic support (ILS)
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign degree equivalent
- Knowledge of basic technical computer and equipment skills, including basic troubleshooting
- Customer service experience
- Advanced computer skills, to include Microsoft Excel and Word
