Spanish: Visiting Assistant Professor
The Modern Languages Department at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish. This is a full-time, two-year position beginning July 1, 2026.
The teaching load for the year will be six classes (typically three classes per semester). Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of courses at the introductory and advanced level and helping with the supervision of senior theses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
Applications are welcome from candidates willing to teach language classes and the literature and culture of one or more of these areas/perspectives: Postcolonial Central America and the Caribbean, the Southern Cone, Golden Age and Colonial, Transatlantic Studies, Women in the Arts and Technology, and Climate Justice and Human Rights.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Spanish in hand by July 1, 2026. The successful applicant will show a strong commitment to teaching at a liberal arts institution and demonstrate the ability to teach students from a broad range of backgrounds.
Screening of candidates will begin on May 15, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled.
