Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The International Institute for Sustainability with Knotted Chiral Meta Matter (WPI-SKCM²) was selected for the World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and was established in November 2022. The Institute promotes the creation of a new interdisciplinary research paradigm, ‘Knotted Chiral Meta Matter,’ while fostering early-career researchers and advancing international collaboration.
We hereby invite applications for a Specially Appointed Research Manager who will be responsible for science communication and international public relations at the Institute.

Work content and job description
The successful candidate will engage in duties related to the WPI-SKCM² project, including:
- planning and implementing international public relations activities for research outcomes
- science writing
- outreach activities
- organizing events such as international symposia
- operational support for WPI programs, including preparation of reports and related documents
- other planning and operational duties related to WPI programs

Compensation
- Annual salary: 6 million yen - 8 million yen
- Wages description: Conditions are determined in accordance with Hiroshima University Regulations for Appointment, Removal, Salaries, Working Hours, Time-Off, and Leave of Contracted Teaching and Research-Related Employees.
- Monthly salary: JPY 552,500 to JPY 665,000
- Working hours: 08:30-17:15
- Break time: 12:00-13:00
- Holidays: In principle, Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and year-end/New Year holidays (December 29 to January 3)
- Overtime and other explanations: If you are agreeable to the application of the Discretionary Labor System for Professional Work, you are deemed to work for 7 hours and 45 minutes a day.

- Contract period: Nontenured
- Contract period description: From as early as possible on or after September 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027. Renewal may be possible based on work performance and the continuation of duties, up to a maximum of March 31, 2032.
