Your Role on the Team

The University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for a Per-Diem Specialty Clinical Associate Medical Intensivist position for ICU/SDU coverage. Duties will include clinical service primarily at the UCI site in Los Alamitos Hospital. The successful candidate must be board eligible/certified in critical care medicine, and licensed/eligible in California.

Clinical responsibilities will involve:

Direct Patient Care

• Provide comprehensive care to critically ill medical patients in the ICU and step down units...

Consultation and Collaboration

• Serve as the attending intensivist...

Clinical Oversight and Supervision

• Supervise and mentor advanced practice providers...

Communication

• Engage in frequent and compassionate communication with patients' families...

Quality, Safety, and System Roles

• Contribute to ICU quality improvement initiatives...

Continuity of Care

• Ensure appropriate documentation, billing, and handoff of ICU patients...

What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

• Candidates must possess an M.D./ D.O. (or equivalent) degree.
• Board-certified or eligible in the field of Critical Care Medicine
• Active and current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification
• Eligible for California licensure
• Demonstrated experience in quality improvement to improve patient outcomes.
• Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives while in compliance of all UC policies and procedures.
• Leadership skills; ability to motivate, inspire, communicate with faculty, residents, staff, and peers to maintain a professional, team-based approach in the care of patients.
• Experienced in providing and/or oversight of care

Total Rewards

Benefits eligible base salary compensation based on Critical Care benchmarks for a Specialty Clinical Associate within this specialty is $250/hr - $281/hr. In addition, candidates have the potential to earn incentives on top of their base salary contingent on performance and experience.
