Job Description Summary
Sr. Research Investigator needed to engage in bioinformatics research projects in biomedicine, both collaboratively and as lead scientist. The lab supports a diverse set of collaborative projects spanning transcriptomics, proteomics, and functional genomics, while also engaging in methods development and evaluation where appropriate. The successful candidate will play a central role in analysis, interpretation, and publication of research findings.
Job Description
Sr. Research Investigator needed to engage in bioinformatics research projects in biomedicine, both collaboratively and as lead scientist. The lab supports a diverse set of collaborative projects spanning transcriptomics, proteomics, and functional genomics, while also engaging in methods development and evaluation where appropriate. The successful candidate will play a central role in analysis, interpretation, and publication of research findings.
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong quantitative and computational backgrounds. Prior experience in bioinformatics is expected. Experience in circadian biology, benchmarking and data simulation are a plus, but depth of thinking and the ability to learn new domains quickly are valued more highly than narrow specialization.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to manuscripts and present work clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines are essential.
We are a highly collaborative and intellectually rigorous group. Candidates should be comfortable engaging deeply with technical problems, taking ownership of their work, and continuously expanding their skill set.

Job Responsibilities
- Engage in bioinformatics research projects in biomedicine, both collaboratively and as lead scientist.
- Perform data analysis and methods development.
- Support a diverse set of collaborative projects and play a central role in analysis, interpretation and publication of research findings.
- Contribute to manuscripts, attend conferences and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- PhD and 5 to 7 years of postdoctoral experience is required.
- Demonstrated programming ability (Python required; R proficiency expected), with evidence of writing clear, well-structured, and maintainable code
- Solid grounding in statistical methods, including regression and multiple testing
- Experience analyzing high-throughput biological data
- Ability to work independently on open-ended problems
Preferred qualifications:
- Training in mathematics, statistics and computer science.
- Experience developing new methods or analytical approaches
- Familiarity with web-based tools or data presentation

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level. Internal organization and peer data at Penn are also considered.
