STIR Coordinator
Advertised Job Summary
The STIR (Students Taking Initiative and Responsibility) Coordinator provides early intervention, recovery support, and referral services to students engaged in high-risk substance use behaviors or seeking recovery from substance use disorders. This position utilizes evidence-based approaches, including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS), and recovery coaching to promote student well-being, academic success, and healthy decision-making.
Primary Duties
- Provide brief motivational interviewing interventions, BASICS services, and referrals to students engaged in high-risk substance use behaviors or seeking recovery support.
- Deliver recovery coaching, case management, and follow-up services, including scheduling appointments, documenting progress, and connecting students with appropriate resources.
- Utilize trauma-informed, student-centered, and non-judgmental approaches to support student well-being and behavior change.
- Coordinate continuity of care by collaborating with campus and community partners.
- Serve as a liaison between Healthy Carolina and key stakeholders.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through the review of student feedback, assessment data, and campus trends.
- Support alcohol and other drug prevention initiatives.
