Job Description
- Review, negotiate and process strategic sourcing agreements and requisitions for IT purchases, supporting the Universities, MOREnet and UM System in accordance with governing regulations and University policy. Coordinate with Legal on review of contracts and variances outside standard contractual language.
- Develop and compose bid specifications for IT purchases that meet end users’ needs; evaluate and analyze bids and proposals to determine the most responsive and responsible bidder to optimize total cost of ownership for the University; negotiate and award bids and proposals in accordance with University policy and to obtain maximum benefit to end users.
- Advise, educate, and assist campus departments and suppliers with questions and inquiries regarding procurement policies and procedures. Promote and maintain a customer-centered focus among departments and suppliers, while maintaining open lines of communication among all constituents.
- Review and analyze data to identify strategic IT contracts that maximize value to the University; recommend potential suppliers for e-procurement supplier enablement's and assist as needed with onboarding; meet with departments regarding contract compliance, issues and opportunities.
- Review and identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, utilization, other expense reduction or avoidance opportunities, improving customer satisfaction and the total value proposition of UM Procurement.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance through product performance, customer satisfaction, discrepancies, and contract compliance; act as a liaison between suppliers and departments to foster mutually supportive relations and promote successful resolution of issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Shift
Negotiable, but typically Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4 pm, or 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, or 8am to 5pm.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of experience in procurement/contracting; ability to lead cross functional work groups; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with end users and suppliers; demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
