Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The Student Care team plays a crucial role in optimising student personal, social, and academic experience at UC, enhancing individual engagement, resilience, and success.
The role of Student Care Advisor is to provide pastoral care to students through 1 : 1 sessions, wellbeing programmes and collaboration with other student support partners.
You will:
- Meet with students either via drop-ins or booked appointments
- Provide effective advice, guidance, and successful delivery of pastoral care supports that will enhance student wellbeing, campus engagement and academic learning experience.
- Case management of complex student needs and maintain relevant documentation to ensure continuity of care and effective referrals.
- Assist with the development and delivery of wider wellness services and team operations.

This position requires strong communication, organisational, and student engagement skills and commitment to UC’s values and culture to promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Experience providing student support, counselling and/ or mental health services
- Experience gathering and applying evidence-based practices
- Experience in case management
- Application of ethics, confidentiality and boundaries when working with students
- Confidence promoting programmes or initiatives to diverse audiences
- Knowledge of UC functions and processes and working with student support networks and agencies
- A bachelor’s degree (NZGA Level 7) in Social Work, Counselling, Health, Education or similar is highly desirable.
