The Master of Cancer Sciences is a fully online two-year course offered jointly by the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) Alliance and the University of Melbourne (UoM). The philosophy behind the Master of Cancer Sciences is to provide a contemporary, evidence-based program to health professionals to improve the outcomes and quality of life for patients with cancer and ultimately to improve cancer treatment outcomes.

We require a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to conduct a comprehensive review of a subject that is part of the Master of Cancer Sciences - Research Thesis Capstone, and to develop a general module that provides core information and orientation for students enrolled in the Master of Cancer Sciences.

This will be a casual position, on an as-required basis, with an estimated workload of 80 hours. The review and development would need to occur during Term 2 2026 teaching period (27 Apr - 21 Jun).

What you will deliver:

  • Review and refine learning outcomes to ensure they are clearly articulated, appropriately scaffolded across Part 1 and Part 2, and aligned with course‑level outcomes.
  • Critically review subject content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with current cancer research best practice and relevant industry standards.
  • Design and develop the module structure and core content to ensure alignment with existing Master of Cancer Sciences content.
  • Create a clear, coherent and intuitive learning journey that supports student engagement and progression through the program.

  • Proven experience in learning design and the development of high‑quality educational content, supported by strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with academic, clinical and professional stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and digital skills, with a proactive, reliable approach to managing tasks, priorities and deadlines.
