  • Program dates: 22 June to 31 July (6 weeks) and 30 Nov to 12 Feb 2027 (9 weeks and excludes 2 week shut down period)

About the opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering is inviting applications for the position of Jacaranda Flame Consulting (JFC) Supervisor. The role supports the successful delivery of the JFC program by acting as the key liaison between students, clients and Faculty. In this program, industry partners provide real-world projects, and teams of 5–7 students work with clients across a 6-9 week period.

The position ensures smooth program operations, provides student support and development, facilitates client engagement, and manages administrative and reporting requirements from pre-program preparation through to post-program wrap-up.

Candidates need to have an Engineers Australia accredited degree (or equivalent as per the Washington Accord). The Supervisor works under broad supervision of the academic JFC Director, performing tasks independently to deliver against goals. They choose appropriate methods of work and plan and prioritise tasks. They will provide advice as the first point of contact for their designated area. They also resolve routine matters related to their responsibilities and collaborate with others.

Please note that this advertisement remains open year-round. Candidates will be contacted as opportunities arise, subject to the number and timing of available industry projects.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Program Preparation: Participate in supervisor planning, review project briefs, confirm group allocations, and coordinate client introductions and first meetings.
  • Program Delivery & Student Support:
  • Attend induction, client meetings, supervisor meetings, and site visits as required.
  • Provide ongoing guidance to student groups, including project management, teamwork, and client liaison.
  • Monitor student progress through weekly reflections, and SparkPlus ratings, referring issues to mentors where needed.
  • Facilitate mock presentations, provide feedback on reports, and support final presentations.
  • Act as the primary contact and first point of escalation for student and client matters.
  • Administration & Compliance: Manage timesheet approvals, maintain records in Sonia, oversee workplace etiquette, and address enquiries.
  • Program Evaluation & Wrap-Up: Conduct exit interviews, obtain client feedback, and contribute to supervisor debrief meetings to identify improvements. Approve final timesheets and work experience certificates for PEP.

About you

  • Experience working in a tertiary environment with working knowledge of using Learning Management Systems, with a sound understanding of teaching activities
  • Effective and tactful communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Experience dealing with industry partners
  • Passion for student learning and delivering an outstanding student experience
