Sustainability and Regenerative thinking for Design and Creative Arts Practices (Ref: SDCA26-SF-003)

About the Project

Sustainability and regenerative design and creative arts challenge designers and artists to move beyond minimising harm toward actively restoring ecological and social systems. This area addresses urgent issues such as climate change, resource depletion, and environmental justice. Key challenges include designing for circular economies, low-carbon futures, collective resilience and community art practices. Research questions include: How can design and the creative arts catalyse behavioural change and systems-level transformation? What materials and methods support regenerative practices in fashion, textiles, architecture, and product design? How can indigenous and local knowledge inform sustainable approaches? Projects may span biomimicry, eco-social innovation, participatory design, human factors, creative methods and policy advocacy, with opportunities to collaborate across environmental science, economics, and activism.
