The Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Supervisor will provide administrative coordination of specific clinical service programs within the Center for Communication Disorders, located within the Department of Communication Disorders. Responsibilities will include: provision of speech-language pathology services to an array of clients; direct supervision of graduate student speech-language pathology interns; support of student and faculty clinical research; and participation in the development and refinement of Center policies and protocols.

Position Responsibilities

Completes all documentation and administrative functions related to the case management of assigned Center clients. 

Provides administrative support in the management of specific clinical services in the CCD.

Schedules assigned speech-language pathology clinical appointments within the CCD.

Collaborates with Center Director in developing and implementing marketing speech-language pathology assessment and intervention services to the University and general communities.

Performs speech-language screenings and comprehensive communication assessments. 

Plans and implements evidence-based therapeutic interventions with clients presenting with a variety of communication disorders. 

Prescribes and implements use of appropriate technology to remediate or manage a variety of communication disorders.

Engages in client counseling and collaboration with other related service providers.

Engages in community consultation about communication disorders and their prevention. 

Provides clinical supervision to graduate students in the area of: speech-language pathology screening; assessment, diagnosis, and intervention; development of professional practices: fitting and use of assistive communication technology; prevention of communication disorders.

Assists in assessment and, when needed, remediation of student clinical skill development and professionalism. 

Participates in select departmental and university committee assignments.

Collaborates in the development, and implementation of departmental procedures regarding best practices in clinical supervision.

Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Connecticut Health Department Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology (or eligibility). Minimum 5 years of experience in clinical practice as a speech-language pathologist which should include a minimum of 1 year experience as a clinical supervisor. Knowledge of current best practice standards in screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders in children and adults. Knowledge of current best practices in clinical supervision. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent team collaboration skills. Computer literacy skills for administrative and clinical purposes. These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
