Teaching Assistant

Position Summary

The American University of Iraq – Baghdad (AUIB) is seeking a motivated Teaching Assistant to support faculty members and dental students within the College of Dentistry.

The Teaching Assistant will assist with clinical supervision, laboratory preparation, and student mentoring to ensure high-quality dental education and clinical training.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist faculty in clinical and laboratory teaching
2. Support students during simulation and clinical practice
3. Ensure equipment and materials are prepared for sessions
4. Maintain infection control and clinical standards
5. Support academic and operational activities of the College

Ideal Candidate Profile

Clinical Knowledge – Solid foundation in general dentistry with the ability to assist and guide students during laboratory and clinical activities.

Student Support Orientation – A strong interest in mentoring and assisting undergraduate dental students in developing their clinical skills.

Communication Skills – Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, faculty members, and clinical staff.

Organizational Skills – Capable of preparing clinical and laboratory sessions, managing materials, and ensuring smooth workflow during teaching activities.

Professional Integrity and Teamwork – Demonstrates reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary academic environment.

Education and Experience

Required Education:
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) or equivalent degree in Dentistry

Years of Relevant Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of clinical dental experience.

Specific Skills or Expertise:
• Clinical supervision and mentoring
• Dental procedures across general practice disciplines
• Team coordination and workflow management
• Familiarity with academic clinical environments

Additional Certifications:
Valid professional dental license (preferred)
Training in infection control and clinical safety (preferred)
