Responsibilities
The position is a teaching faculty position with an emphasis on undergraduate instruction for lower-level Chemistry courses in the Undergraduate Studies curriculum and upper-level Chemistry courses in the Biomedical Sciences/Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences (IMS) degree program. Typical responsibilities include:
- Serving as a core faculty member in the Biomedical Sciences program.
- Teaching undergraduate courses in Chemistry that include a mix of lower-level courses in the undergraduate studies curriculum and upper-level courses in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and/or other chemistry courses in the biomedical degree curriculum.
- Providing mentorship, advising, and support to students.
- Engaging in course and curriculum development activities, including laboratory management.
- Working with colleagues on campus and in the community to promote this new program.
- Collaborating as a team with colleagues at FSU Tallahassee in the College of Medicine and Chemistry departments.
- Being an engaged faculty member for the FSU Panama City campus.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a doctorate degree in Chemistry or related field from an accredited institution. Candidates who are ABD will be considered and candidates who have a Master’s Degree in Chemistry with a different related doctoral degree will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous university teaching experience and the ability to translate Chemistry concepts to health-related settings.
- Strong record of teaching, excellent communication skills, and a passion for mentoring students interested in health-related career tracks.
