The School of Theatre and Dance, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 250 students across BFA programs in acting, dance, educational theatre, and entertainment design and production, and a BA in theatre arts.
Job Duties
The School of Theatre and Dance is searching to fill a full-time 9-month Permanent Fixed Term Teaching Instructor/Teaching Assistant Professor/Teaching Associate Professor – Accompanist & Vocal Instructor. The Accompanist & Vocal Instructor teaches a 2:2 course load, with the remaining 50% covering accompaniment for dance classes (ballet and modern), private vocal coaching, and music directing as needed. This position may teach courses in musical theatre performance techniques, advanced audition preparation, fundamental musicianship, music theory, and/or musical theatre history, depending on the candidate’s areas of specialty.
Minimum Education/Experience
A Master’s Degree (MM or MFA) in Music or Musical Theatre or equivalent professional experience is required.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Prefer five years of commensurate professional experience. Preferred skills include improvisation, sight-reading, and experience with a range of repertoire (classical and musical theatre).
