Technician B
Position Summary
The Przedborski lab at Columbia University Motor Neuron Center seeks a highly motivated Technician B to work using histological and molecular techniques to assist with the study of neurodegenerative and neurogenetic diseases including Parkinson’s disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, spinocerebellar ataxia and peripheral neuropathy among other disease, primarily using mouse models but also using cell culture and human patient sample.
Responsibilities
- Perform histological, molecular, and behavioral experiments across multiple projects
- Assist in the study of disease using mouse models, cell culture, and human patient samples
- Collaborate closely with a postdoctoral research scientist on experimental work
- Schedule, plan, and execute experiments with a high degree of responsibility
- Apply and develop skills in experimental design and analytical techniques
- Prepare and deliver regular presentations of research findings
- Actively contribute to laboratory discussions and scientific meetings
- Contribute meaningfully to research projects leading to publishable results
- Develop increasing scientific independence under mentorship
- Maintain accurate records of experiments and analyze resulting data
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or equivalent in education, training and experience
Preferred Qualifications
- An ambitious and energetic candidate aiming to progress to an advanced degree program or non-academic scientist
- Laboratory and academic experience in the study of CRISPR-based mouse models of Parkinson’s disease using immunohistological, as well as fluorescent and non-fluorescent non-immunological dyes would be preferred.
