JOB LOCATION AND SCHEDULE
CITIC, Universidade da Coruña. 17.5 horas semanales (luns-venres 9:00-12:30)
TASKS TO BE PERFORMED
The objective of this contract is collaboration in research that will be carried out within the framework of the project “Language Technologies from a green angle: low-resource domains” (LATCHING-UDC).
The hired person will contribute to one of the main lines of research of the LYS group of the University of A Coruña. The hired person must collaborate on the project's outstanding research tasks: the development of syntactic analysis algorithms that operate under conditions of limited computational resources; the development of incremental natural language processing models that process linguistic inputs strictly from left to right; and the integration of project results—specifically, the injection of knowledge in the form of syntax and incremental models—into end-user applications.
JUSTIFICATION OF THE DURATION OF THE CONTRACT
The contract responds to the need for a person to contribute an approach based on computational grammars to the lines of research of the LATCHING project. We estimate that these tasks can be carried out in an estimated time of nine months.
TASK SCHEDULE
The tasks to be performed have an estimated duration of nine months, with the contract ending upon completion.
Month 1. Collaboration on the development of syntactic analysis algorithms for languages and domains with limited computational resources, using HPSG computational grammars.
Months 2-4. Development of incremental natural language processing models, extending those already developed by the LyS group to enhance their performance.
Months 5-9. ntegration of syntactic analysis and sequence labeling (morphosyntactic tagging, syntactic parsing, and entity recognition) into a sentiment analysis system.

Eligibility criteria
CRITERIA AND MERIT ASSESSMENT
The following merits will be assessed and scored:
- Doctoral thesis related to one of the topics that will be worked on, that is: development and application of computational grammars, development of incremental natural language processing models, or integration of syntax into natural language processing tasks: 15 points. The PhD must be completed, and the dissertation defended, to receive points for this section
- Scientific activity: Scientific publications related to the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) in the last three years will be assessed, up to 7 points per publication, with a maximum of 30 points. High-impact scientific publications in this field, classified as Class 1 in the GII-GRIN-SCIE Conference Ranking or in the first quartile by impact factor in the Journal Citation Reports, will be awarded the maximum score (7 points). 5 points will be awarded for positions classified as Class 2 in the GII-GRIN-SCIE or in the second and third quartiles of the Journal Citation Reports, and two points for positions classified as Class 3 in the GII-GRIN-SCIE or in the fourth quartile of the Journal Citation Reports.
- Receiving competitive grants of excellence: Consideration will be given to having received highly competitive national or international grants or talent recruitment contracts, such as Ramón y Cajal, Juan de la Cierva, María Zambrano, Marie Skłodowska-Curie, or others of a similar nature. Up to 5 points/year for national grants and 10 points/year for international grants. Maximum 20 points.
- Demonstrable knowledge of spoken and written English. Two points per level from A2 to C2. Native speakers will be considered at level C2. Maximum 10 points.
- Personal interview in English. Maximum 25 points. Only candidates who are among the three with the highest total scores in the other sections, and who have achieved a minimum of 40 points, will be interviewed.
Only those who obtain at least 50 out of 100 points on the total scale will be eligible for selection.
A waiting list will be created for candidates who score above 40 points, excluding the score from the interview. In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be the evaluation of scientific publications related to the field of natural language processing (NLP) in the last three years, as specified in point 2 of the evaluation criteria.
