TEMP-Lab/Research Support (Dept of Animal Resources - Cage Wash)

Job Summary

Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory to include performing analyses; setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment; and maintaining stock of supplies. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs.

Job Summary: Performs routine duties in support of animal research facilities including washing housing components, sanitizing animal rooms, and support areas.

Responsibilities

• Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.
• Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.
• Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.
• May clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.
• Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.
• Sanitizes animal caging components, operates industrial washing equipment, sanitizes animal rooms and support areas.
• Maintains accurate records including wash cycle reports, environmental conditions, inventory and daily activity.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma

Required Experience
Up to two years of job related experience

Required qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent AND at least one year of related experience. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The ability to push and pull heavy loads. Ability to work and remain standing for long periods. Ability to use protective equipment. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, practices and standard procedures. Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge in the use of instrumentation and other lab equipment, laboratory processes and procedures specific to assigned lab. Skills in inventory management and the use of specialized computer applications is required.
