Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with advanced analytical instrumentation used in materials science, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Develop valuable skills in instrument operation, data analysis, lab maintenance, and collaborative research while gaining real-world materials science experience, including reverse engineering and forensic analysis. Job functions include operating instrumentation, organization and cleaning lab equipment and spaces, running instrument calibration checks, assisting external companies with materials forensic projects, as well as a good dose of computer-based research and data analysis.
Qualifications
The ideal person is self-motivated, enjoys learning new things, and is good at solving problems with little guidance. Basic chemistry knowledge is a plus, but some of the best previous lab assistants have had no scientific background. We'll teach you everything you need to know.
Preferred Qualifications
A strong interest and even curiosity in the physical sciences and technology (and maybe even a little science fiction) is a plus.
