The Cornell Lab of Ornithology IT team provides effective and responsive technical support services throughout the Cornell Lab for staff and public-facing devices.
What We Need
As a member of the Desktop Services Team, you will collaborate across numerous disciplines and trades, including audio-visual, network, desktop engineering, acousticians, electricians, facilities directors, architects, and faculty. You will contribute to enhancing the Lab’s information technology capabilities, with an emphasis on audiovisual, conference room, and Visitor Center support. Other duties include:
- Providing complex and broad technical support for teleconferences, webinars and distance-learning classes, including operating complex audio and video recording systems.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware/software for workstations and printers within the context of defined procedures.
- Working with stakeholders to create initial designs and outline goals for AV upgrades, working with AV vendors, and following up to ensure that the upgrades are correctly serving staff needs.
- Providing responsive, effective, and efficient IT support to staff, faculty, students, and public (as needed).
- Collaborating with Cornell peer IT staff and others to troubleshoot problems with networks, software, and hardware.
- Providing general recommendations for IT hardware purchases, upgrades, and disposal.
We are looking for a talented individual with an excellent work ethic who enjoys providing hands-on assistance to conference room users.
This is a one-year, temporary, part-time position at 18 hours/week that is contingent upon available work, funding, and performance. This on-site position is located in Ithaca, New York.
Compensation is $31.66/hour.
